Jack White hasn't slowed down these last few years. After dropping his own solo record, Boarding House Reach in the begining of 2018, he's returning to his other major project, The Raconteurs in 2019!
Its hard to believe, but the last time Jack White got together with Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler was all the way back in 2008 when they released their sophmore album Consolers of the Lonely.
We can't wait to see what the guys have in store for us this year on the new album or if they'll tour to support it... But they were nice enough to leave us some material to check out in anticipation!
No doubt about it 2018 was a transformative year for Bruce Springsteen! His Broadway show, Springsteen on Broadway, did so well at the box office and with critics it was extended several times during its run at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Little did we know at the time when he announced the show that it was born out of a performance at the White House!
Nonetheless, after spending all that time on the stage by himself, you'd think he'd be eager to get back together with the E-Street Band. And there were some encouraging signs in 2018 as several members of the E-Street Band were spotted at Bruce's home studio. Then Bruce said he'd be getting back to his day job in 2019. So it was easy to get excited once again by Bruce and the E-Street Band. But, after some clarification, we now know that Bruce will be putting out some material in '19 but that it will be more of a singer songwriter album. That doesn't mean some of the E-Street Band members won't be a part of it, but it will definitely be a solo record. Either way, it will be the follow up to 2014's High Hopes.
Weezer will return this year with a follow up to their 2017 effort Pacific Daydream and fill in another color on their rainbow of releases. This time they're following suit with Metallica and Spinal Tap by going with The Black Album!
Fans can look forward to a March 1st release date in what should be another exciting year for Rivers, Scott, Patrick and Brian after what turned out to be a monumental comeback 2018!
Not that Weezer ever went away, but they success that they reached in covering Toto's Africa was unmatched from the group in quite some time! To top it all off the band was featured in a Saturday Night Live Skit that was just hilarious. And as a finally to 2018, performed at the NHL Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium on New Years Day.
Pearl Jam isn't the only band on this list that were supposed to deliver an album in 2018 and didn't. We're not exactly sure what happened to this material as we were all ready to get their 11th studio album after they released the single Can't Deny Me.
At first the single was released strictly to their fan club, but it was just a few days later they gave it to everyone. They even put out a press release saying that this was going to be a part of their 11th album. So it looked like everything was a go. And then enough time passed and we never heard anything else.
But the band was touring so much in 2018 it was hard for them to duck the question of what happened to the LP. But it was indeed that touring schedule that became the reason why we never got the album. In recent interviews, Jeff has been quoted as saying its safe to assume 2019 will be the year the Ten rockers put out number eleven!
We love the fact that The Cure are coming back with a new album in 2019 but how they got here is what we REALLY LOVE! Robert Smith was asked to curate the Meltdown Festival in the UK which he did, but as we learned in 2018, he started listening to new bands to try and figure out who he wanted to put on the bill and in the process of listening to all these new artists, he was inpsired to write his own new material.
Spoken like a true EHM fan! There's nothing like listening to new music to get you inspired!
So the band will be celebrating 40 years since they put out their first album Three Imaginary Boys back in 1979 with some new material in 2019. Release dates and more info to follow! But here's a sneak peak of some new material they've performed live recently.
Vampire Weekend was included in our feature on the Most Anticipated Albums of 2018! So what has changed?
Well not much. Sadly there isn't much new info. Rostam is still gone although we've been assured he has contributed to this work which we're not entirely sure will be titled Mitsubishi Macchiato, we can only go by what Ezra put on his instagram over a year ago.
But we do know that the album is done. Ezra confirmed as much during a show in England. So why didn't we get this material in 2018? Ezra blamed life in general as well as a "log jam" at the vinyl factories. Not sure how legit that excuse is, but we do now that artists are pumping out a lot of vinyl these days and there aren't as many factories around as there used to be so who are we to argue!
The Smashing Pumpkins have a lot going on these days. But amongst their plans, is a follow up to Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1. They land last on our list of most anticipated albums of 2019 because they have close to 10 other projects in the works right now including a tour.
But there's no denying that the original line up (sans Darcy) has ignited a spark in the Pumpkins and in Billy Corgan specifically that is putting them in the mood to put out more Pumpkins material. So don't be surprised if we get Vol. 2 this year or some sort of release but its easy to see how anything from these guys could be shelved for a later date.
Spring 2019 is going to be very busy for young Ms. Jenny Lewis!
On The Line, Lewis’ fourth solo album, is slated for a spring release via Warner Bros.
Her last album, 2014’s The Voyager, was recorded with Ryan Adams, and this latest release from Lewis promises the return of Adams as well as Beck, Ringo Starr, Don Was, and more!
By far this is shaping up to be the most star studed record of 2019 so far! We haven't heard any singles or teases from the new album, but Jenny also announced an extensive tour which kicks up in March, so odds are we'll have something before then!
After a successful year touring as The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts, the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts are joining forces to form The Allman Betts Band.
The new ABB includes Devon Allman, Duane Betts, Berry Oakley Jr. (son of original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley), Johnny Stachela (slide guitar) and Devon Allman Project percussionists R. Scott Bryan (Sheryl Crow) and John Lum.
They will kick off 2019 with a new Allman Betts Band album and a Worldwide tour that will feature new music, songs from their solo projects and classic Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman tunes in honor of the 50th Anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band. The new album, slated for release in the Spring of 2019, will be recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and will be produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine and Elvis Presley). Former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and current Rolling Stones keyboardist, Chuck Leavell will guest on the new album with Peter Levin (Gregg Allman's keyboardist) handling keyboard duties for the rest of the record.
Wow... Just wow... Can't wait for this!
A lot has transpired in the Jam Band community, specifically with Derek Trucks since TTB last released an album in 2016. Since, Let Me Get By, Derek's Uncle Butch Trucks passed away, as well as long time friend and band leader Gregg Allman.
As expected, TTB will have a lot to write about for this upcoming record as Derek outlines with the News-Press by saying:
"It’s a pretty reflective record. Everybody’s had a hell of a few years since the last record. And so there’s a lot to write about, a lot to dig in about. I’m not exactly sure what kind of record it’s going to turn out to be yet, but it feels honest and it feels good."
If they have material already in the can expect the release before this summer. If they haven't recorded much yet, the always touring TTB has holes in the calendar in March, May and the begining of June. In which case if they were to record then, we could expect a late 2019 release...
The Cranberries will release their final album of new material in 2019. To clarify, there could be some more material in the vault from years past, but In The End which we're expecting to get this year, is the last bit of material the group recorded before the death of Dolores O'Roirdan.
“It’s a very strong album,” guitarist Noel Hogan told Rolling Stone Magazine back in October. He goes on to describe how the songs harken back to their earliest sounds saying “It’s very, very similar, and we deliberately tried to do that. We just said, ‘Let’s go back to the original Cranberries sound.’ And anyone that’s heard it has agreed: ‘Yeah, you managed to do that.'”
We can imagine how tough this is going to be for hardcore fans of Delores and the band, but at least we'll get to celebrate her amazing vocals one more time.
